Description
An understanding of this process can be illustrated from the below diagrams, "OSMOSIS" take place when water passes from a less concentrated solution
to a more concentrated solution through a semipemeable membrane. There is a
certain amount of potential energy of the water called "OSMOTIC PRESSURE"
exists between the two solutions. Water will flow because of this energy difference,
less concentrated solution to the more concentrated solution until the system
is in equilibrium. "REVERSE OSMOSIS" is defined as the separation
of one component of a solution from another component by means of pressure exerted
on a semipemeable membrane.
If a pressure higher than the osmotic pressure is applied on the more concentrated
solution, water will flow from the concentrated solution to the diluted solution.
